Starfield Commentary

One of the most highly anticipated releases of 2023. Upon launch, most critics praise the game and gave Starfield 8s and 9s. However, the largest publishers IGN and Gamespot gave Starfield a 7. They cited weak storyline, weak space travel, empty worlds and lacking RPG elements as the reason for a lower score. Those that prefer the game cited solid combat, long hours of playtime and large universe to explore. What also help the score is that many players on social media enjoyed the game, where a few agreed with IGN. Many speculate the success of Xbox depends on the outcome of Starfield, as the console struggles in the exclusive games department. Franchises such as Halo and Gears of War are on it's fifth installments, and are becoming stale to the market. As Microsoft scramble to acquire prestigious developers, Bethesda is one of the gigantic companies that was controversially snagged by Microsoft.

What Game Guide likes about Starfield ?

Highly detailed environments and large exploration capabilities make Starfield a unique experience. Plenty dialogue options make npc interactions interesting and fun to engage. Challenging combat makes Starfield enjoyable to purchase the necessary weapons and upgrades and various merchants throughout the universe. Ship navigation and interactions provides a high quality, unique feel for Starfield. The storyline is interesting to a certain degree.

What Game Guide dislikes about Starfield ?

The storyline is noticeably weak for a project with high ambition. This may result in players losing interest despite Starfields high quality production. The story is not 100 percent weak, just lacking certain elements to make the story more engaging. Missions in the begining phase can feel slow paced and sluggish. Navigating the universe through menus can be tedious and confusing. Mini maps for local navigation is weak and can be frustrating to utilize.

What Critics like about Starfield ?

Critics praise Starfield combat as solid and challenging. Interesting weapon selection with optional upgrades make Starfield enjoyable. The side quest in Starfield is described as entertaining and unpredictable. The amount of gameplay and content is marveled.

What Critics dislike about Starfield ?

Many critics disliked the Main storyline, describing it as weak. The minimap for local environments is tough to navigate and frustrating to use. Some felt the RPG mechanic of influencing the story through dialogue and decisions is too weak for modern RPG standard.
